At Burr we believe that every child is capable of learning and achieving excellence in education. Every student is responsible for and will take an active role in their quests to become competent and literate contributors to society.

Mission Statement

Our mission at Burr is to provide a well rounded and professionally administered curriculum that will insure the achievement, excellence and future success of all our children. Our program will provide an early entrance (Pre-School) and an extended day Kindergarten, which will allow us to close the gap between national developmental norms and deficits that many of our children bring to school. We will also provide varied relevant educational technological, social and cultural experiences designed to establish a well rounded student, increase student learning and develop respect for diversity. With the aid of parental and community partnerships Burr brings out the best in its students.

About Jonathan Burr Elementary School

We are a small neighborhood school conveniently located in the Chicago neighborhood of Bucktown. Our school is at 1621 W. Wabansia, just off the Kennedy Expressway, near Ashland and North Avenue. Burr serves neighborhood students as well as students from around the city. Our dedicated teachers build a rapport with each student and family.
