KINDERGARTEN 2011-2012
Friends of Burr would like to congratulate everyone who was accepted to kindergarten at Burr for the fall. We hope you will be joining our Burr family! I thought I should pass along some important information. Due, in part, to the changes in the socio-economic make-up of Burr’s student population, Burr school lost funding for full-day kindergarten last year. Like many of the top Chicago neighborhood/magnet schools Burr’s parents/guardians voluntarily subsidized the cost of the extra half-day for 2010/2011
WHAT TO EXPECT
If the parents of the 2011-12 kindergarten class are interested in continuing the tradition of full-day kindergarten at Burr, we will be coordinating a capital campaign. The campaign will start off with a meeting that will take place in April of 2011. Without the voluntary contribution from the kindergarten parents and/or sufficient fundraising proceeds, kindergarten at Burr will revert to half-days. Burr is a warm, yet challenging school with excellent teachers and a solid group of parents who strive to make it a place where their children thrive. We hope you and your child(ren) enjoy it as much as we do.
